By accessing or using the DebtShield website at debtshield.app or any related mobile application (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

DebtShield provides an AI-powered tool that analyzes debt collection letters to identify patterns that may indicate potential violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and related consumer protection laws. Results are provided for informational purposes only.

DebtShield may also facilitate connections between users and independent consumer protection attorneys. DebtShield is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and is not responsible for the actions or advice of any referred attorney.

3. Not Legal Advice

THE SERVICE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE LEGAL ADVICE. Results from DebtShield's scanning tool are informational only and do not create an attorney-client relationship. Only a licensed attorney can evaluate your specific situation, determine whether your rights have been violated, and advise you on your legal options.

You should not rely solely on DebtShield's results when making legal or financial decisions. DebtShield expressly disclaims any liability for actions taken based on scan results.

4. Eligibility and Account

You must be at least 18 years old to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

5. User Content and Uploads

By uploading documents or images to DebtShield, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service. You represent that:

• You own or have the right to submit the content
• The content does not violate any third party's rights
• You are the intended recipient of any uploaded collection letter or have authorization to submit it

Do not upload documents containing other people's personal information without their consent.

6. Accuracy of Results

DebtShield's AI scanning tool is designed to flag patterns that may indicate potential FDCPA compliance issues. However, the tool may produce false positives (flagging compliant letters) or false negatives (missing actual violations). Results are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or legally meaningful.

Actual damages, settlements, or legal outcomes vary greatly based on facts, jurisdiction, applicable law, and other factors. Any dollar amounts mentioned on our website are examples or statutory frameworks — not promises or predictions of your outcome.

7. Attorney Referrals

If you choose to be connected with an attorney, that attorney is an independent third party, not an employee or agent of DebtShield. DebtShield makes no representations about any referred attorney's qualifications, ability, or likelihood of success. Your relationship with any referred attorney is governed by a separate engagement agreement with that attorney.

DebtShield may receive referral fees from attorneys in its network. This does not affect the objectivity of our scanning results.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload fabricated, altered, or fraudulent documents
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the Service
• Use the Service to harass, defraud, or harm others
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service's operation

9. Disclaimers of Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBTSHIELD DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate or reliable.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBTSHIELD AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR LEGAL OUTCOMES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed $50 USD.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, on an individual basis (no class actions).

12. Intellectual Property

All content, design, software, and technology on the Service are owned by or licensed to DebtShield and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written consent.
