1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing debtshield.app, joining the waitlist, or using any related DebtShield website or mobile application (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will update this page and revise the effective date.

2. Description of Service

DebtShield provides an informational, AI-assisted tool intended to help consumers identify possible issue patterns in debt collection letters. The Service may include mobile letter upload, OCR, AI-assisted analysis, educational explanations, and an option to request review by an independent consumer-protection attorney.

DebtShield does not determine whether any law has been violated. Only a licensed attorney can evaluate your specific facts, jurisdiction, defenses, deadlines, damages, and legal options.

3. Not Legal Advice or a Law Firm

THE SERVICE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE LEGAL ADVICE. DebtShield is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and does not represent you. Use of the Service, viewing scan results, joining the waitlist, submitting a letter, or requesting attorney review through DebtShield does not create an attorney-client relationship with DebtShield.

No attorney-client relationship is created unless and until you enter a separate engagement agreement directly with an independent attorney. DebtShield is not responsible for any attorney's advice, acts, omissions, availability, engagement decision, or case evaluation.

4. AI-Assisted Results and No Outcome Guarantees

DebtShield's AI may be wrong. The Service may produce false positives, false negatives, incomplete OCR, incorrect classifications, outdated rule interpretations, or results that are not legally meaningful. Results are informational only and should not be the only basis for legal, financial, credit, settlement, or deadline decisions.

DebtShield provides no outcome guarantees. We do not guarantee that a scan will identify every possible issue, that an attorney will accept your matter, that you will recover money, that a collector violated the law, or that any legal outcome will occur.

5. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to use the Service. Some features may require account authentication through Clerk or another approved authentication provider.

6. User Content and Uploaded Letters

By submitting documents, images, text, or related information to DebtShield, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, analyze, display, and transmit that content solely to provide, secure, improve, and support the Service and any attorney-review request you explicitly authorize.

You represent that you are the intended recipient of any submitted collection letter or are authorized to submit it. Do not submit documents containing another person's personal information unless you have permission and a lawful basis to do so.

7. Attorney Review and Referrals

If you request attorney review, DebtShield may share relevant contact information, letter materials, scan results, consent records, and case context with an independent attorney or law firm only after your explicit consent. Attorneys are independent third parties and may decline any matter.

DebtShield may receive fees from attorneys or law firms for qualified referrals where permitted by law and applicable professional rules. Any provision about referral fees, arbitration, liability limits, venue, or attorney relationships requires human/legal review before public launch.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purpose.
• Upload fabricated, altered, unauthorized, or misleading documents.
• Submit another person's personal information without permission.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, interfere with, or exploit the Service.
• Use DebtShield outputs to harass, threaten, or mislead any person.
• Represent that DebtShield has provided legal advice or made a legal determination.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, delete, and export personal information. For privacy questions or deletion/export requests, contact privacy@debtshield.app.

10. Disclaimers of Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBTSHIELD DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, AVAILABILITY, AND RELIABILITY.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBTSHIELD AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST LEGAL CLAIMS, MISSED DEADLINES, OR LEGAL OUTCOMES ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE.

Any monetary liability cap requires human/legal review before public launch.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

The governing law, venue, arbitration, class-action waiver, and dispute-resolution provisions are pending human/legal review before public launch. Until counsel confirms them, do not treat this section as final legal advice or a final launch-ready dispute clause.

13. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, trademarks, and technology, is owned by or licensed to DebtShield. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
